What is gaming?

Can someone write an introduction to gaming? (this will be a video game context) what it is and why its sooo great, write till you feel like you explained it, if there is more than one, we will vote on it

Its also an art form. The thing with games is that it allows people to participate in the games themselves and affect things within the games. If its a fighting game, the players can express their knowledge, speed, calculations, and competitive nature. If its an RPG or story based game, it would be something similar to reading a novel or watching a movie with a good story, except with games the players can interact with the stories. They can affect certain events and make key decisions, which can alter the story or change the level in which they participate in it. If its a puzzle game, the players can test their own skills as they pertain to the puzzle; different puzzles allow for different functions of the brain to become active. For example, there's a game called Brain Age that puts the player through a series of tests, whether it be math or word problems, usually in a fun/entertaining way while keeping intelligence as a key feature.

Gaming is also a hobby that isn't really as popular within society as other hobbies, so it tends to separate the gamers from other groups. And the many different types of games out there may be interesting but they can also separate gamers from each other, although there are people who are interested in many types of games anyway.

(I know people don't generally like big paragraphs or whatever, so lets see if we can make this more organized...)

Key points:

- Gaming is an art form, just like painting pictures or creating music. It allows people to express themselves through various categories.

- Games have many different categories/genres. Each genre appeals to different peoples' interests or skills. This shows how much potential games actually have, as they can be expansive in tons of different ways.

- Gaming is a hobby just like playing sports, watching movies, reading books, etc.
